I hope you got a chance to see my other post on jean shopping. If you didn’t and need to be reminded how wonderful you are, click here.
Did I mention…
I’m not sure about everyone else but we (yes, that includes my kids) have been sleeping in all summer. It’s been glorious!
Now that school has started it has been a little bit of a struggle to try and find a good routine. I applaud the moms who are up before their kids and are in the drop off line with makeup and hair done. I think you may be super human but you look wonderful all the same! I… am not that mom 🙂 I get to the drop off line in my yoga pants and coffee cup in hand. Can I get an amen for yoga pants?!
Although, I may not be at my best in the drop off line I have found time to work out before my kids go to school. I prefer to work out at the start of the day rather than at the end of the day. I have done both. At the end of the day I am already tired and the thought of pushing myself to workout doesn’t give me warm and fuzzy feelings. I feel that starting my day with ME time allows me to clear my mind and prepare for the day. It’s after my “me” time that I can focus on my kids.
Side note- a morning workout also makes me aware of my food choices for the rest of the day. By saving it for the evening I have a thought like, “yeah, I can have a cookie or two… or three because I’m going to workout later”. Then the end of the day comes and I’m tired and my food choices were not exactly up to par.
Let me just clarify, that you don’t have to sweat buckets every morning in order to get a good workout in. Yoga, is great and quiet if your kids are still sleeping. Go for a morning run/jog/walk. Fresh air clears your mind and can leave you feeling better. Another great idea, find a work out buddy! Find another person that you can encourage and that can encourage you. This way you can work out AND be social. I loved my work out buddy! We would sweat buckets together and it was great! These are just a few suggestions to get your mind thinking about what kinds of morning workouts you can do.
Everyone is different and I recognize that everyone has a different schedule to keep. A morning workout may not be something you may be able to fit in. Thats OK. It’s about you and how you feel and making the decision to take care of YOU!
It may require you to get up 30 mins before your kids but it’s worth it. Promise.
